This entry is about breastfeeding and pumping. Oh now you get it huh? Well, first off, I am a mom of 6-month-old baby boy (OMB as in ohmyboy *wink*). OMB is a voracious milk drinker, I tell you. He loves me so much (he better be) especially when I am nursing him. When I was still on my maternity leave, I breastfed him directly, meaning he was sucking my nipples 24 hours a day! Oh I loved it. This boy will thank me someday for giving him not only the right nutrients he needed but also the antibodies not found in the formula milk. My breasts then were enormous! Imagine Pamela Anderson before she had breast reduction. Ok… Ok… So that huge, really! No they were not that big originally. Well, I was only 34A back then. Alright, alright… I also fit to 32B with some brands of brassieres. Satisfied then? Anyways, I had enough supply of milk, more than enough actually because I still had to pump an ounce or two each breast after his feeding. My problem is, after 2 months of getting back to work, my supply seems to be diminishing. I dunno. Am I a little paranoid?
I’ve been pumping in the office for several months now. I feel like Im a milk machine (see the cartoon below). The supply/demand seemed to be in good terms, so to speak. But after the holidays, I noticed a 1- to 2-ounce less each pump. Panic swift all over me. This is not happening! What went wrong? Am I stressed, for this might be the culprit.
But no, I am totally happy given the fact that I just had a 2-week xmas vacation. I had a blast! My son, his father (OMH, as in ohmyhusband), and me had a quality bonding during the holidays. We visted my family on xmas day, and then OMH’s family on the new year’s day. Oopps, that might be the reason. I’ve been quite tired and busy preparing and planning and having a good time. My body did not get a good rest the past days, I think. Or, I was not extracting milk plenty enough while traveling or during the gathering. I dunno. I could make a list as to why why why! But seriously, can somebody tell me why?
More of this soon.
